A few years ago, a 9′ Silk 6 rod was the norm for Trout anglers. As rod materials have improved and rods have become lighter and stronger, the 6′ Silk has been relegated to the 5′. It is now the « intermediate » size for the transition from Trout fishing to warm-water species. Capable of making remarkably long casts, this rod is also capable of making delicate presentations, especially in windy conditions where a #5 can’t quite do it. A good streamer rod, it casts oversized, wind-resistant poppers, stoneflies and hoppers admirably. It’s also an excellent rod for ultralight offshore applications.

All our rods have their Guides mounted on the straightest axis of the blank. The rods sold on the Edge Rods Europe website are the genuine Gary Loomis brand. These products are handmade directly in the brand’s American factories. Edge fishing rods are made of carbon, so we strongly advise against fishing in stormy weather due to the electrical conductivity of carbon.
